Rhiannon and Grandma and Grandpa Linda and Ken Morris attended the first Kings game against the Bulls. This was Rhiannon's first Kings' game. She said it was awesome! She also liked the dancing teams at halftime.
Alex and Jean Naccarato celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary with a quiet evening at home. They had sons Alex Jr. and Scott, with their families and dogs, visiting for Christmas. The families left before the anniversary and Jean said they just enjoyed the peace and quiet.
January dates to put on the calendar: January 3rd, children back to Knights Ferry School, the 5th is the Knights Ferry Community Club meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the clubhouse. It is a dessert meeting. There will be a special Knights Ferry School Board meeting this Wednesday, December 7 at 6:00 p.m. to select a new Board member. They will have a regular meeting on Thursday, December 8 also at 6:00 p.m.

It is with heavy heart that your reporter has to inform you of the passing of two Knights Ferry residents. Linda Gardella Cassinetto died October 25th. She is survived by her husband Ben, children Monica Frere (Lou), Stephen Dietrich and Beth Dietrich and stepchildren Ed (Denise) Cassinetto, Sheryl Cassinetto and partner John and Tom Cassinetto and partner Karen and grandchildren Zack DeGrood, Eden and Benjamin Cassinetto. She is survived by her brother Jack (Trisha) Gardella. Services were held Tuesday. Donations can be made to the Gardella College Fund at the Sonora Area Foundation, P.O. Box 577 Sonora, 95370.
Owen Haskell celebrated his 88th birthday with a party in his yard. Beckie, Carey and Linda, former caregivers, came to help Owen celebrate. Also attending were Owen's niece Judy Haskell McCarrick of Grass Valley and her daughter-in-law Jane Overgard, also from Grass Valley. Many other family members and friends gathered for the party for Owen. Dolly Haskell also had an October birthday that the family celebrated. Dolly had celebrated with friends in Scott's Valley earlier in the month. The partygoers enjoyed the delicious lunch and reminiscing with family.
Knights Ferry School held their annual Jog-a-Thon last Friday. Fifth through eighth graders ran first, then the Kindergarteners and grades one through four ran. Many parents ran along with their students. Wyatt Sousa enjoyed running the laps. Madison Willis liked reaching her goal for the run. Katie Schwandt enjoyed seeing Sophie Jones, OJHS student who had a furlough day, and Katie enjoyed spilling water on Elise. Elise Seeds liked getting the Popsicles at the end. Luke Dickens just liked running! It was a great day.
After the much-needed rain the Ferry is looking like spring, with the lilacs, wisteria and spiraea blooming, the birds singing and the day-trippers enjoying the town. Last Sunday's breakfast was enjoyed by many, with good food and friendly diners.
Easter was really iffy on Saturday night what with all the lightning, thunder and rain. It really was a show! Sunrise Service had some clouds in the East but the weather was mild. The rest of the day was perfect!

The Sandhill Cranes are flying north in impressive numbers. Spring is coming! Also the town is carpeted in violets, remnants of the open water system that provided the town with water. The reservoir was where the upper blacktop area is at the school. It was open and violet seeds spread through town.
At the MAC meeting the rash of burglaries in the area was discussed. There were eight that they knew of. Everyone needs to keep a watch out for anything suspicious and report it to the Sheriff. Also discussed by the California Highway patrolman was the help he was giving the school on safety. Josh Tucker from Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department gave the 2012 statistics for our area. Congratulations go out to Amber and Kylea Coston for placing in the top 20 finalists for the Stanislaus County Peace Essay Contest. Amber was in the top 20 for Seventh and Eighth Grade (out of 376) and Kylea was in the top 20 for Fifth and Sixth Grades (out of 317). Their actual placing will be announced in February. The Knights Ferry Garden Club has selected the winners of the Smokey Bear Poster Contest. They have received their prizes at school. The Dollings have an interesting story. Fred was going out his gate when he spotted something lying in the road. Upon closer inspection he found a dead eagle! He called Lisa at the Army Corp and she sent a Fish and Game person. Looking the bird over, he found burn marks; the eagle had flown into the power lines. They turned the bird over to Fish and Wildlife and they will see that Indian tribes will receive the feathers, as Indians are the only people allowed to have eagle feathers.
