There was a packed clubhouse for the Knights Ferry School's Winter Program. It opened with Julia Nilsson as Mistress of Ceremony and the K-4 students on stage and the 5-6 in the choir area singing "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" followed by "Frosty the Snowman" with Denali Benson as Frosty. Denali's costume was great! After that the Kindergarten and First and Second Grades sang "Mister Santa". Natalie Brockman is the choir director and the band director. Knights Ferry News Week of December 18, 2013

Pajama clad children, with blankets and pillows, enjoyed movie night in the Ferry. All the children and some of the parents were in their nightclothes. Hot chocolate and candy cane sticks were slurped and licked as the Muppets provided the entertainment. The theater chairs at the clubhouse for the adults were moved to surround the area full of children. It was an enjoyable night. Your reporter and hubby missed it because granddaughter Claire Krippner was in a basketball tournament playoff. Claire scored 4 baskets out of 5 for the second place trophy in the Lutheran League.

Congratulations to the Knights Ferry students of the month for October: Troy and James Peterson, First Grade, Anthony Neely and Breanna Banks, Fourth Grade, Makena Mendonca, Fifth Grade, Makali Willis, Sixth Grade, Kaeli Sweet, Seventh Grade and Ray Patton, Eighth Grade. They were awarded certificates at a recent assembly. Also Luke Dickens and Josh Reese won the Super Student drawing.

At the MAC meeting last Thursday Christie Dowd from the Stanislaus County Planning Department presented the tentative parcel division of the Thompsons. They want to divide 932 acres into 24 forty-acre parcels behind Horseshoe Road. Approximately 750 acres are now planted in almonds. The project proposes access to the property through a publicly maintained 30-foot wide easement off Horseshoe and they need a secondary access, proposed to Rodden Road. Two access roads are needed before anything can be done. Christine also presented the MAC with a letter from Nick Honchariw complaining about the Historical District's 5-acre minimum parcel plan ...

Movie night was a preview of Halloween. Children and adults came in costume to enjoy the treats, the movie "Hocus Pocus" and popcorn. There were many great costumes including two who were covered head to toe in a spandex type multi colored outfit. Don't know who they were! It was a fun night in the clubhouse.

The Knights Ferry School Board meeting was done in record time! The action items that passed were the Audit Report, School Accountability Report Card, Confidential Employee Salary Schedule and the Classified Employee Salary Schedule. Under reports and announcements the March Auction and Dinner is the 28th of March, the staff is working on the Website and the regular February meeting will be February 12, 2015 at 3:30 p.m. with Stanislaus County Superintendent of Schools Tom Changnon in attendance. Knights Ferry Garden Club has picked the winners of the Smokey Bear contest. The winners all received prizes and their posters will now go on to be judged at the State level. First Grade Winners are: First-Holly Conde, Second-Charlee Birdsong, and Third-Maddie Dickens. Second Grade winners are; First-David Kouassi, Second-Kyla Ryan, and Third-Lily Sturtevant. Third Grade winners are: First-Madison Watson, Second-Gracie Anderson, and Third-Austin Sherley. Fourth Grade winners are: First-Grace Hardin, Second-Deagan Sweet, and Third-River McCarthy. There were a lot of people in attendance at the Oakdale Rural Fire Board meeting. The board cleared up the rumor that the Knights Ferry station was being sold, it is not. The survey was commissioned because the LaDonne family said the station was over on their property. No sales were planned in the future. The historical structures in the Ferry were discussed, as they are wooden structures. The Fire Board said all such buildings should be alarmed and monitored for quick response. The Fire Chief is working on staffing both stations but has to work with the union on ...

There was a very large turnout for the Feast put on by the Junior High students of Knights Ferry School. The tables were decorated with fall leaf placemats and turkeys and fall trees made of paper bags. Kaeli Sweet and Rilyn Cassaretto liked decorating the tables. Knights Ferry Community Club Christmas dinner is Thursday, Dec. 4th at 6:00 p.m. at the clubhouse. The Oakdale High School Choir will perform again this year. Attendees are asked to bring: A-M- salads and sides and N-Z desserts and sides. The club will furnish ham, turkey, potatoes and gravy. This is always a great way to start the Christmas season!
