Happy birthday Betty Irvine (Robuck)! Betty will turn 102 on February 25th. Betty was born in Knights Ferry on what is now the Martinelli ranch. When her parents Thomas and Myrtle Robuck sold the ranch, the Robuck family kept an acre and 1/3 for family to visit. Betty is the last remaining survivor of the Robuck clan of Knights Ferry. One of Betty's contributions to Knights Ferry is the gorgeous mural of Lover's Leap inside the Church.

Knights Ferry School recently celebrated their 100th day of school. The kindergarten class baked bread and churned butter like they would have done 100 years ago. They also wrote about what they could do to make the world a better place before each of them turn 100 years old. Jak Gardner said he wanted to be a fireman and save 100 lives. They also accomplished 100 acts of kindness. The first graders were asked to bring or make 100 of something to show the class. First grader Caleb Rose proudly displayed his Pac-Man project. There are many reasons to love Knights Ferry but the ODD Fellows are proving to be one of my favorite reasons. Last Wednesday, they opened their doors to Knights Ferry school families and served them a hot pancake breakfast. Not only did it send kids to school with warm pancakes in their bellies, but it was a good time for families and friends to enjoy one another's company. How many of us actually sit at the table as a family and eat breakfast or even eat as friends? It was a great reminder to be intentional about our time ...

The hearts of our community members and school families grew at least two sizes this holiday season! The tree with tags representing local family members in need was picked clean last week. This week the school office was jam packed to the door with gifts and Santa's helpers worked to prep the gifts for the final step to deliver all the gifts to the families. Many of the families will also receive a gift card to help purchase groceries. Full bellies and happy hearts is a wonderful holiday tradition and we couldn't have done it without our community ...

The Christmas dinner was well attended on Thursday night at the Community Club. The high school choir sang beautiful songs such as Silver Bells and a solo performance of Santa Baby. President Chris Peterson presented the high school choir with a donation for their spectacular performance. The Community Club provided most of the delicious meal and many attendees brought desserts and side dishes. Every tag representing a local person in need of Christmas gifts was claimed by our gracious community and many of the $25 gift cards for groceries were purchased to help the families purchases their Christmas dinner.
