The Knights Ferry Cemetery has a sinkhole where the OID ran their pipeline. Some people bottomed out when going into the second gate. There are now steel plates over the area until it dries out so OID can fix it.

The air was abuzz with the sounds of chainsaws after last Tuesday's terrible storm. Your reporter watched as the wind blew so strong and swirled the rain and leaves so much I couldn't see. The lawn furniture blew and when I went to the other side of the house three almond trees had blown over, one where our pickup had been parked the night before! Of course the power was out and the computer backup beeps and the dog Jack doesn't like beeps so I had him on my lap!

The Knights Ferry Garden Club selected winning posters for the Smokey Bear contest. They will be sent to the State for judging there. The winners received prizes from the club. First Grade winners were: first place- Tristan Voortman, second place- Weston Sundberg and third- Samantha Blanc. Second Grade winners were: first place- Holly Conde, second- Josh Maceira and third- Bryce Anderson. Third Grade winners were: first place- Lily Sturtevant, second- Paul Chiara and third- Lupita Pineda. Fourth Grade winners were: first- Carson Sundberg, second- Wyatt Souza and third- Aubrey Mendonca. Congratulations all!

Hope everyone had a happy time at Christmas. The Shearer's went to Jamestown to the Hickey side of the family to celebrate. Lots of nephews, niece, grand nephews and their families were there. The next day they went to Modesto for their great-great granddaughter's second birthday. On Sunday the rest of the family gathered at the ranch and celebrated Christmas. Your reporter is ready for a rest.

The Knights Ferry Community dinner was very well attended. Folks just kept coming in bringing good food! The Oakdale High School Choir and Show Choir performed for the audience under the direction of Bryan Mills. Performing a solo duet were Breanna Cordono and Jessica Long. Attending her first dinner at the clubhouse was Annabelle Dean Schlegel with her parents Maranda and Andrew Schlegel. The food was excellent and the socialization terrific.

Welcome to the world Audie Scott Beltrami, born on the 12th to former Knights Ferry resident Amanda (Lamb) Beltrami and her hubby Eric. He weighed in at 8 pounds 4 ounces and was 20 inches long. Proud former Knights Ferry grandparents are Julie-Beth and Rex Lamb.

Jim and Diane Boyer have returned from a vacation in the East. They flew to Baltimore and rented a car, went to Washington, D.C. They toured the Smithsonian, and White House where they got to tour the grounds (only happens twice a year). They went to the top of the Washington Monument (not by stairs) and saw all the Memorials. Diane liked the Library of Congress; it was big. They took in Williamsburg, Yorktown, Jamestown and its plantations, Fredericksburg and its battlefields. They also enjoyed the fall colors. It was quite a trip.

It was a beautiful day for the Pumpkin Roll in the Ferry. There were a lot of people enjoying the breakfast and the craft fair. Garden Club sold out of pumpkin rolls and the new T-shirts went fast. There were a lot of rollers. The winners were: teen boys-Aaron Lowe, teen girls-Christine Cooper, girls 6-12 Izzy Morales, boys 6-12 Raudel Garcia, boys 0-5 Ryan Mayer, girls 0-5 Rylann Glidewell, Senior men-Carl Schafer, Senior women-Leanne Hunteman, Women-Bethany Basmajen and Men-Jerick Trinidad with a roll on one inch from the line!

Halloween is close so here are some treats: October 30th the school children from Knights Ferry School and preschoolers will parade down Main Street at noon. The street will be lined up with candy deliverers! It is always fun to see the costumes and the children get enough candy they don't have to go at night. That evening is free movie night at the clubhouse. Showtime is 6:45 with the doors opening at 5:30. The movie is "Hotel Transylvania." Come in costume and bring blankets, beanbags, and chairs etc. to be comfy. You could bring candy to ...

Knights Ferry lost a neighbor, friend and extremely sharp person when Bill Frias died October 12th. His financial genius helped the Oakdale Rural Fire Department, Knights Ferry School District, Knights Ferry Odd Fellows, OID, and the Knights Ferry Community Church and Knights Ferry Community Club. A celebration of life will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the Living Hope Christian Fellowship in Oakdale, graveside services following at Burwood Cemetery and then a luncheon at the Knights Ferry Community Club. Bill is dancing with Evelyn as I type!
