At the MAC meeting the California Highway Patrolman Anthony said they would watch the stop signs in the Ferry now that school has started. The O.I.D. letter for a $5.00 fee was discussed, as was the O.I.D.'s wanting to put a pipeline across the cemetery. The final plans were submitted for the MAC's approval of the AT &T building addition.
At the meeting of the Museum and History Associates of Miller's Hall, Heather Wright from the Army Corp, presented the colors that they would like to paint the end caps of the Covered Bridge. The colors were in keeping with the historical image and were approved. The date for the annual Peddlers Faire was set for April 28, 2013.
Last Saturday evening your reporter sat on the porch swing and watched the fingers of verga sweep over the hills, punctuated by bolts of lightning. This was possible because grandson Alex cut down the 30-year-old oleander hedge that had gotten way too big!
It is August already and here are some dates for your calendar. August 2nd is the Community Club meeting at 6:30 p.m. It is a dinner meeting. August 5th is Breakfast Sunday in the Ferry at the I.O.O.F. Hall. The Knights Ferry History and Museum Associates meet August 14th at 9:00 a.m. at Miller's Hall. The School Board meets August 9th at 6:00 p.m. at the school.
The mountain lion has been sighted on Frymire Road! Michelle Mueller reports her neighbor saw it drinking out of the ditch and lying in the shade. There have been many deer in that part of the neighborhood, good food for the lion. A deer killed by a lion was on the Griesner beach on the river on July 4th. Be aware of your surroundings when outside.

The Knights Ferry Community Club is getting a facelift. There are Boy Scouts washing and painting the building for an Eagle Scout project.
Condolences go out to the family of Mary Napier on her death at 81 years. Mary was raised in the Ferry in the house that is now the Museum and Ice Cream parlor. Her sister Ida Levine, three children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild and nieces and nephews including Carla Doshas of Knights Ferry survive her.

There was a packed clubhouse for the Knights Ferry School's Winter Program. It opened with Julia Nilsson as Mistress of Ceremony and the K-4 students on stage and the 5-6 in the choir area singing "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" followed by "Frosty the Snowman" with Denali Benson as Frosty. Denali's costume was great! After that the Kindergarten and First and Second Grades sang "Mister Santa". Natalie Brockman is the choir director and the band director. The Intermediate Band, consisting of Kylee Sisco, Alyssa Sisco, Kaeli Sweet and Eden Cassinetto played "Jingle Bell Rock ...
Pajama clad children, with blankets and pillows, enjoyed movie night in the Ferry. All the children and some of the parents were in their nightclothes. Hot chocolate and candy cane sticks were slurped and licked as the Muppets provided the entertainment. The theater chairs at the clubhouse for the adults were moved to surround the area full of children. It was an enjoyable night. Your reporter and hubby missed it because granddaughter Claire Krippner was in a basketball tournament playoff. Claire scored 4 baskets out of 5 for the second place trophy in the Lutheran League.

At the MAC meeting last Thursday Christie Dowd from the Stanislaus County Planning Department presented the tentative parcel division of the Thompsons. They want to divide 932 acres into 24 forty-acre parcels behind Horseshoe Road. Approximately 750 acres are now planted in almonds. The project proposes access to the property through a publicly maintained 30-foot wide easement off Horseshoe and they need a secondary access, proposed to Rodden Road. Two access roads are needed before anything can be done. Christine also presented the MAC with a letter from Nick Honchariw complaining about the Historical District's 5-acre minimum parcel plan ...
Movie night was a preview of Halloween. Children and adults came in costume to enjoy the treats, the movie "Hocus Pocus" and popcorn. There were many great costumes including two who were covered head to toe in a spandex type multi colored outfit. Don't know who they were! It was a fun night in the clubhouse.
