Jim and Diane Boyer have returned from a vacation in the East. They flew to Baltimore and rented a car, went to Washington, D.C. They toured the Smithsonian, and White House where they got to tour the grounds (only happens twice a year). They went to the top of the Washington Monument (not by stairs) and saw all the Memorials. Diane liked the Library of Congress; it was big. They took in Williamsburg, Yorktown, Jamestown and its plantations, Fredericksburg and its battlefields. They also enjoyed the fall colors. It was quite a trip.

Halloween is close so here are some treats: October 30th the school children from Knights Ferry School and preschoolers will parade down Main Street at noon. The street will be lined up with candy deliverers! It is always fun to see the costumes and the children get enough candy they don't have to go at night. That evening is free movie night at the clubhouse. Showtime is 6:45 with the doors opening at 5:30. The movie is "Hotel Transylvania." Come in costume and bring blankets, beanbags, and chairs etc. to be comfy. You could bring candy to ...
Knights Ferry lost a neighbor, friend and extremely sharp person when Bill Frias died October 12th. His financial genius helped the Oakdale Rural Fire Department, Knights Ferry School District, Knights Ferry Odd Fellows, OID, and the Knights Ferry Community Church and Knights Ferry Community Club. A celebration of life will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the Living Hope Christian Fellowship in Oakdale, graveside services following at Burwood Cemetery and then a luncheon at the Knights Ferry Community Club. Bill is dancing with Evelyn as I type!

Orange Blossom Road was the scene of an accident, on the turn by the Shook and Dias homes. Seems a truck hauling two trailers of almonds took the turn too fast and the back trailer overturned, spilling the load of almonds into the ditch. The critters (two- and four-legged) will enjoy the almonds.

Your reporter had a rattlesnake experience! Walking to the back door, a rattler was slithering from the flowerbed to the back door also! Grabbed a shovel and pinned it to the ground just short of the porch and called (more like screamed) for Lee. He cut its head off with the pruning shears. It was about 2 feet long and was very fat! Came from the same place as last year's rattler. I am sewing now, not working in the yard!
