There are many reasons to love Knights Ferry but the ODD Fellows are proving to be one of my favorite reasons. Last Wednesday, they opened their doors to Knights Ferry school families and served them a hot pancake breakfast. Not only did it send kids to school with warm pancakes in their bellies, but it was a good time for families and friends to enjoy one another's company. How many of us actually sit at the table as a family and eat breakfast or even eat as friends? It was a great reminder to be intentional about our time ...

The hearts of our community members and school families grew at least two sizes this holiday season! The tree with tags representing local family members in need was picked clean last week. This week the school office was jam packed to the door with gifts and Santa's helpers worked to prep the gifts for the final step to deliver all the gifts to the families. Many of the families will also receive a gift card to help purchase groceries. Full bellies and happy hearts is a wonderful holiday tradition and we couldn't have done it without our community ...

The Christmas dinner was well attended on Thursday night at the Community Club. The high school choir sang beautiful songs such as Silver Bells and a solo performance of Santa Baby. President Chris Peterson presented the high school choir with a donation for their spectacular performance. The Community Club provided most of the delicious meal and many attendees brought desserts and side dishes. Every tag representing a local person in need of Christmas gifts was claimed by our gracious community and many of the $25 gift cards for groceries were purchased to help the families purchases their Christmas dinner.

The first Sunday in December is Odd Fellows pancake breakfast and the Christmas parade. I have been told the parade starts at 11 a.m. in front of the Rivers Edge but it could be a little earlier or a little later. The Millers Hall museum will be open if you get into a town a little early!

It was a gorgeous day in Knights Ferry for the Pumpkin Roll! There wasn't an empty inch on Main Street except where the chalked lines drew the pumpkin rolling arena as people enjoyed the booths and the delicious food around town. There was a variety of booths in the Community Club. My favorite items for sale were the steam punk type hats, aprons, and hand-crafted wood toys. It is difficult to describe the excitement during the Pumpkin Roll unless you're standing on the sidelines watching a pumpkin slowly creep toward a white chalk line and stop within inches ...

Thank you to all the volunteers that came out for Love Knights Ferry! In two years, there will not be enough funding to pay for fire protection in Knights Ferry and Valley Home. This is a major concern for the Citizens Unite meeting attendees as they are looking into possible solutions such as creating another volunteer fire department and finding more funding to keep our fire departments open. This is a very important issue to be passionate about early in the game as these kinds of changes do not happen overnight. We would hate to be without a fire department in two years! Come to the meetings to get involved. Mark your calendar ...

Knights Ferry School had a very busy week! On Thursday, they hosted Roberts Ferry for volleyball and flag football games and on Friday, the entire school put their running shoes on for the annual jogathon fundraiser! The poor air quality nearly cancelled both the game day and jogathon but thankfully the winds were in Knights Ferry School's favor! The jogathon was a morning full of music and Bobcat spirit. Awards were given for raising the most pledge money: First place, Taylor Witzke and Aubrey Mendonca, Second place, Colin Gibson, Third place, Demi Moore. Demi also won the drawing for ...
