Knights Ferry lost a long time resident when Phil (Bud) Frymire died last week. He leaves behind his wife, Carmen, children Rosie Paulat (Bob), Lisa Dolling (Fred) and Phillip (Lisa) and grandchildren Jessica and Justin Paulat, and Danielle Frymire. He also leaves sisters Jean Dyer, Joan Taylor and Nancy Frymire. Graveside services will be Saturday, May 7th at 11 a.m. at the Knights Ferry Oak Grove Cemetery.

Peddler's Faire morning was a bit breezy but that didn't keep anyone away. The Odd Fellows held a breakfast to start the day. A shuttle bus transported people from parking to the Faire. People were seen with their purchases looking for more "good stuff." The items in the antique section seem more familiar each year – many things that I grew up with! This event benefits Miller's Hall and its plan for heat and air in the museum.

There was a large turnout for the memorial service for Sherron McCarthy despite the rain. Pastor Bob led the service. Everyone then gathered at the clubhouse for food and sharing. One of the comments heard that afternoon was the only time we see a lot of old friends is at funerals. There was a bounce house for the children as Sherron enjoyed the little ones. She did a lot for the community and she will be missed!

The memorial service for Sherron McCarthy will be Saturday, April 9th at the Knights Ferry Cemetery at 1 p.m. There will be a potluck to follow at the clubhouse.

At the Community Club meeting The Civil War was discussed. Lisa told that it could possibly be on again if the re-enactors that want it to happen get their act together. (Keep you posted.) Also at the meeting Miles reported that the Car Show for April 2 is coming along with interested car owners signing up to attend. The new officers for the year took their positions: Chris Peterson, President, Jason Sweet, Vice President, Heather Voortman, Secretary and Lisa Dolling, Treasurer.

Skunks are out and about looking for a partner. For those that haven't the recipe for de-skunking here it is: Mix 1 quart hydrogen peroxide, 1/3 cup baking soda and 1 tablespoon liquid soap. Scrub and leave it on for a minute and wash off. On pets do it within four hours.

The Knights Ferry Parent/Teacher Club presents "A Red Carpet Affair" the 2016 dinner and auction on March 12th at the Knights Ferry Community Club. The doors open at 5:30 with dinner at 7:00 and live auction at 7:30. Tickets are $30 pre-sale and $35 at the door. Get tickets at the school or call 881-3382. Each class is making something great for the live auction. This fundraiser is a fun time and raises money for school activities.

Welcome to the world Eugene Gregory Burns, born February 3rd to Kevin and Sarah. He weighed in at 6 pounds 5 ounces and was 18 ½ inches long. Proud Knights Ferry grandparents are Wendy and Greg Burns.

The Knights Ferry Cemetery has a sinkhole where the OID ran their pipeline. Some people bottomed out when going into the second gate. There are now steel plates over the area until it dries out so OID can fix it.

The air was abuzz with the sounds of chainsaws after last Tuesday's terrible storm. Your reporter watched as the wind blew so strong and swirled the rain and leaves so much I couldn't see. The lawn furniture blew and when I went to the other side of the house three almond trees had blown over, one where our pickup had been parked the night before! Of course the power was out and the computer backup beeps and the dog Jack doesn't like beeps so I had him on my lap!
