At the Knights Ferry Community Club meeting, Sheriff Adam Christianson was the speaker. He gave an update on the budget; 10 million dollars were cut from the budget. Sheriff Christianson discussed the early release of prisoners, not a great thing for the communities. Also on the agenda was the awarding of a scholarship to an Oakdale High School student, and it was decided to raise the donation to $250 ...

It's rattlesnake number 12 for the Noe family. It was by the dog pen at night and had 12 rattles and a button. Rattlesnakes add a rattle every time they shed their skin, young snakes might shed 4 times a year, less as they age. Randy Noe had to weed whack the yard for granddaughter Aubrey Mendonca's third birthday party so there would be no hiding places for snakes. Aubrey wanted a swim party for family and friends and Bev didn't want to have children running around with a possibility of snakes in the grass.

The mountain lion was sighted again, this time Bryce Hobbs, son of Bridgette and Dusty, was walking the dogs on the Rushing Rapids Trail near dusk (south side of the river) when he heard some sound like yelping and the lion stepped onto the trail. Bryce held the dogs and then the lion went into the brush. The Fish and Game were going to look into this, as maybe the sound was young lions or maybe the lion's dinner! Bryce was really scared!

A great big "Thank You!" from the Boyers to the Knights Ferry lawn ferries. Jim came home from the hospital and Diane and Jim were surprised to find their lawn had been mowed and things weed-eated and trimmed. Seems Martha Harding and helpers from the 50's Roadhouse went to work on the Boyer yard since Jim could not do it. It is nice to have such good friends!

The skunks are coming out looking for mates and some are ending up as road kill. The recipe for de-skunking your dog is one quart of hydrogen peroxide, 1/3-cup baking soda and 1 tablespoon of liquid soap. With a cloth, wash it into the fur and leave for a few minutes then wash off. This needs to be done within four hours of skunking. I keep the ingredients on hand always!
