There goes another month! August happenings: Aug. 4th is the Community Club dinner meeting 6:30 p.m. at the clubhouse. August 7th is Breakfast Sunday at the I.O.O.F. Hall from 8 a.m. to noon. August 9th the History and Museum Associates meet in Miller's Hall at 9:00 a.m. August 10th Oakdale High School starts. August 11th is the Knights Ferry School board meeting. August 15th Knights Ferry School starts, August 25th MAC meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the clubhouse.

There will be an emergency meeting of the Parent/Faculty Club at the school July 21 at 9 a.m. All parents are invited to attend and hear what is happening. The school wants to hire a 2 hour reading teacher.

Welcome to the world Matthew Steven Hodge, born June 26 to Katie and Collin Hodge. He weighed in at eight pounds, nine ounces and was nineteen and one half inches long. Proud former Knights Ferry grandparents are Cliff and Cheryl Hodge. Matthew joins big brother Daniel at home.

YEA! The Post Office is back in business! After much paperwork and phone calls the Post Office held its Grand Reopening last Tuesday. The Knights Ferry Community Club was PACKED for the meeting on the Post Office last Thursday. The Manager of Marketing for the Post Office from Sacramento, Susan Donaldson, was there to give three options for opening the Post Office. Also attending were Congressman Denham's representatives Bob Rucker and Wendy Rodman. The guests came early to tour the museum and the Post Office. Three possibilities were given and a paper ballot was passed out to vote on which one was best. The majority voted for the Contract Post Office (like what we had). Knights Ferry lost a long time resident when Phil (Bud) Frymire died last week. He leaves behind his wife, Carmen, children Rosie Paulat (Bob), Lisa Dolling (Fred) and Phillip (Lisa) and grandchildren Jessica and Justin Paulat, and Danielle Frymire. He also leaves sisters Jean Dyer, Joan Taylor and Nancy Frymire. Graveside services will be Saturday, May 7th at 11 a.m. at the Knights Ferry Oak Grove Cemetery.

Peddler's Faire morning was a bit breezy but that didn't keep anyone away. The Odd Fellows held a breakfast to start the day. A shuttle bus transported people from parking to the Faire. People were seen with their purchases looking for more "good stuff." The items in the antique section seem more familiar each year – many things that I grew up with! This event benefits Miller's Hall and its plan for heat and air in the museum.
