Fishing Report

Everyone has their favorite colored baits, my favorite colors were always watermelon red, purple, and green pumpkin. I pretty much grew up fishing those colors and believed that everything else was a waste of money. I think otherwise now after having lost to competitors fishing colored baits that I had always thought of as a gimmick. I'll never forget the time I lost to a guy fishing a pink bubblegum colored worm! Several years ago I purchased a few red spinner baits, red being is color that I've always thought of as a springtime color. I fished that ...

Fishing Report

I've learned over the years that a person could drive themselves crazy worrying about every little detail when it came to fishing. Bass Fishing Hall of Fame member Dee Thomas once said "keep things simple." Taking his advice, I routinely go through my tackle and remove items that haven't been used in a while. I'm often surprised at how much tackle is purchased but never used. Of course, after each passing year, there are new baits that make it into my boat. The usual suspects always seem to remain the same though. There are so many baits ...

Fishing Report

After last week's weather many anglers have put away their equipment and will be staying close to the fireplace for the next few months. It definitely takes a dedicated person to be willing to be out there during the winter months. If you're planning on going fishing for the day there are a couple of items that you definitely don't want to go without. On top of that list would be a fishing partner, being out alone on the water this time of year isn't recommended. If you were to fall into the water, there is ...

Fishing Report

A recent morning brought the first real cold snap of the year. For many anglers, the colder temperatures bring the fish closer to the surface. For others, fishing is only going to get tougher as their species of choice will most likely be hunkering down for the winter. Fishing the wintertime can be extremely tough and for the inpatient person, unbearable. When I think about fishing during the wintertime I immediately think of slowing down and downsizing my line. Unless I'm lucky enough to find an active school of fish the bites are going to be far and few ...

Qualifying runs at the 26th Annual NHRA Sonoma Nations at the Sonoma Raceway produced many exciting performances, but the July 28 eliminations added more. With it came a few upsets, where lower qualified cars defeated higher qualified cars and track records lowered.
