Athlete Of The Week - Lane Trapp

Under-13 Oakdale United soccer standout Lane Trapp was at his best at the Shamrock Invitational earlier this month, netting three goals in a huge 5-2 pounding of NorCal Elite for a tournament title.

Trapp, who also scored twice in a big 4-0 drubbing of host Dublin, earns Athlete of the Week honor for his efforts.

Athlete Of The Week - Sara Stevens

Eleven-year-old Fair Oaks sixth grader Sara Stevens closed her summer with a fantastic performance at the Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships at Hughes Stadium in Sacramento. Competing with the highly successful Modesto Roadrunners, Stevens and three other girls sped to a first place finish in the 4x800 meter relay.

Stevens earns Athlete of the Week honor for her efforts.

Athlete Of The Week - Sarah Peterson

Talented Oakdale softball player Sarah Peterson on the Under-16 California Grapettes has been lights out in summer competition. She followed up a thrilling run to a Sac-Joaquin Metro title by playing her best in the Champions Cup premier tournament in Irvine. Peterson was one of five Oakdale players to combine for 28 hits across the tournament and belted her first career home run over the fence in a two-run bomb against Fort Collins. Peterson earns Athlete of the Week honor for her efforts.

OBA All-Star Weekend

All-American Honors For Decathlete Brunk

Oakdale High alum John Brunk made his final day as a member of the Chico State Track & Field team a memorable one at the NCAA DII Track and Field National Championships, earning a spot on the All-America podium in the decathlon. Competing in 10 events over two days, Brunk posted personal bests in the 110-meter hurdles, the 1,500-meter run (with a winning time of 4:23.90), and matched his personal record in the pole vault, clearing 15-01. Summer vacation has officially started for my family, this week we've been spending the first part of it camping at Lake Pardee. Actually, I'm typing this report from the picnic table of my campsite.
