Taking some inspiration from the Olympic Games, a pair of Oakdale United competitive soccer teams came home with gold this weekend.
The Oakdale 12-and-under all-star baseball team concluded summer play with two tournaments in July. A young team from the start of the All-star season, they matured over the two months that they played and practiced together. After winning the Oakdale Come As You Are tournament (4-0) and then finishing a disappointing third in the District 1 tournament (1-2), the team started to really come together in post-season tournament play.

Oakdale H.S., Softball Oakdale Gators swimmer Dustin VandenBosch delivered yet another stellar performance in the pool during the Sea Dog Invitational on June 23. VandenBosch sped to championship victories in the 100 meter individual medley and 50 butterfly stroke. He was also second in the 50 breaststroke and joined older swimmers for a sixth place finish in the 15-18 200 medley relay.
