GARY RUSSELL MICHENER

Gary passed away November 15th at Manteca Care & Rehabilitation Center after a short battle with brain cancer. Gary was a lifelong resident of Oakdale; he worked at Spreckles Sugar for 23 years. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. Gary is survived by brother, Steven Michener; sisters, Jeanne Michener and Margaret (Maggie) Hulme. DEBORAH N. PINKERTON (HEWITT)

Deb, wife of Oakdale native, Bret Hewitt, passed away in the afternoon of Sunday, October 23 after a determined and valiant battle of a recurrence of breast cancer. With her at the last moment were her husband, sister-in-law, Lauren Hewitt, daughter, Clare Hewitt, and her loyal Russian Wolfhound, Raisa.

NANCY JEAN KESTERSON DYMKE

Nancy passed away Nov. 5, after a battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 17, 1949 to Irving and Patricia Kesterson in Palo Alto, CA. She married Joe Dymke in Modesto, CA on Feb. 27, 1971; they were married almost 46 years. Nancy attended local schools, UOP and Humphreys Business College and worked as a bookkeeper for the family business for 20 years. Roger Lundgren, lifelong resident of Oakdale, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2016 at the age of 76. Roger is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol and their two sons, Roger Jr. and Scott. Roger grew up hunting and fishing with his father Kenneth, who was a local Barber, and his brothers and uncles. His mother Nellie was a Nurse at the nearby Oak Valley Hospital. Torben (Toby) Torngren was born in 1929 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Danish parents who immigrated to the U.S a year before. At the age of 17, he joined the Army and was stationed in Augsburg, Germany. There, he met his future German wife, Maya, to whom he was married for 64 years.

Helen Louise Jones was born March 27, 1923 in Franklin, Texas to Tom and Ollar Vaughn. She died peacefully at home in Oakdale on October 25, 2016. A true child of the Great Depression, she worked in the fields to help support her family of 15. In 1938 she met the love of her life Allen J. Jones, a farmer from Arkansas.
