Odulia Cobarrubia Petroni passed away on April 23 at the age of 91. She was born in Oakdale, the first of six children, to Nicolas and Luz Cobarrubia. Odulia married Lido J. Petroni from San Francisco. They had four children, Deborah Canevari, Victoria Pope, Dan Petroni (deceased) and Joseph Petroni, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Virginia Joan Suggs died peacefully on Sunday, April 9, 2017 in Modesto, CA, at the age of 85. She was born to Walter Scott Ahlbrandt and Elinor Lamb Ahlbrandt on October 23, 1931. He grew up and raised his own family in Oakdale, California. He worked locally at Con Agra for 40-plus years. He was a lover of life and loved his family and friends. Evelyn was born Oct. 30, 1930 in Oakdale, California, the youngest child of William and Lilly Fahey, pioneers of Stanislaus County. She was a life-long member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church where she was a member of The Daughters of the Golden West and Helping Hands. Evelyn was a founding board member of the Oakdale High School Sports Booster Club, serving for seven years. Helen Moore, 81, passed away Thursday March 23, 2017. She was born in Dilia, NM to Ofrendo and Marina Adela Gallegos. Helen lived in Modesto for over 50 years and worked as a waitress. In addition to being a homemaker, she was a member of the Moose Lodge and was a great dancer. She and her husband were always engaging themselves in dancing at the Moose Lodge. She was also a member of the Catholic church and an animal lover. Helen was a true angel on Earth and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

DELLA MAE BOLTER

Della Mae Bolter, died peacefully on April 21, 2017 at Vintage Fair Nursing and Rehab in Modesto. She was 91. Della was born on April 4, 1926 in Barber, OK to George and Sallie Hamilton. Della was the oldest of three children. She attended Valley Home Elementary School and Oakdale High School. She was active on the girls tumbling team, choir and volunteered at football games at Oakdale High. In 1944 she married the love of her life Eddie A Dias, and together they had four children: Gene, Jane, Rose, and George Dias. Eddie died suddenly in 1954.

AL FAHEY

Al Fahey, a long-time resident of Oakdale, passed away Monday, April 10 at age 96. Al was the grandson of California pioneers, immigrants from Ireland, who worked in the gold fields surrounding Sonora. The family was among the original ranchers in Tuolumne County and later relocated to Oakdale. Being in a ranching family, Al said he grew up on the back of a horse.
