Ross Barton 'Bart' Paul, 73, died suddenly on Sunday, July 26 while on a golf vacation in Klamath Falls, OR.
He was born to Waite and Marlea Paul in Turlock. He grew up throughout the central valley of California. He graduated from Oakdale High School in 1954. In 1957, he fell in love with and married Hazel Howell of Modesto.
Mr. Paul served in the Naval Reserve prior to beginning his career. After his service, he returned to Oakdale and eventually moved to Modesto, where he and his wife raised their family.
Florence Ellen Van Dyke, 94, of Escalon died Sunday, Aug. 2 in Modesto.
She was a native of Alabama. She lived in Oakdale 40 years prior to moving to Escalon over a year ago.
Mrs. Van Dyke was a licensed vocational nurse for 18 years.
She is survived by her husband, DeLoyd Van Dyke of Escalon; daughter, Nina Siler of Santa Maria; stepchildren, Jeff Van Dyke of Tennessee, Genese Dufur of Modesto, Dennis Van Dyke of Oakdale, and Lee Van Dyke of Kentucky; sister, Geraldine Driver of Washington; brother, Odell Bower of Washington; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Ann Marie Waltermire, 42, of Ceres died Saturday, July 25 at home after a two-year battle with cancer surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born in Oakdale to John Austin and Mary Lou Graves. She married Joe Waltermire in April 1987 and had their son in December that year. She lived most of her life in Oakdale until her move with her family to Ceres in 2005.

He worked at the Hershey's factory in Oakdale for 38 years, along with his wife Jeannie. After they retired, he and his wife moved to Snowflake, AZ where they became active in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters organization. He was a volunteer for the Sheriffs Auxiliary, Sheriff's Search and Rescue, and C.E.R.T.S.

Shawn Michael Wilson, 35, of Huntington Beach passed away Saturday, June 27. A lifelong resident of Huntington Beach, he was married to Oakdale's Deanna Wilson, daughter of prominent community members and businesspeople Dawn and Dana Isaacson. The Isaacsons owned the local Round Table Pizza for close to 20 years. Deanna was a graduate in the Class of 1991 at Oakdale High.
