Parole Denied In 1993 Kidnap Case

A man convicted in 1994 for a series of kidnappings and attempted sexual assaults in Oakdale from 1993 was denied parole on Aug. 18 after a hearing of the State Board of Parole held at Susanville State Prison. Steven Eugene Rice, of Oakdale, was arrested in 1993 for a number of felonies and has been in custody since then.

Suspect In Stolen Car Pursuit Evades Arrest

Tuolumne County sheriff's deputies pursued a stolen U-Haul truck into Oakdale Sunday night, Aug. 7 resulting in the vehicle and driver escaping. The truck was later found unoccupied in the city.

Wrong-Way Driver Arrested For DUI, Hit-And-Run

Shortly after area police were issued a 'be on the lookout' for a wrong-way driver on Highway 108 between Oakdale and Riverbank on Saturday, July 23, around 9 p.m., officers from the California Highway Patrol ended up responding to a head-on collision and arrested an Oakdale man on suspicion of drunken driving after his pickup collided with another vehicle.
