Knights Ferry School Nets $25,000 Education Grant

To feed the world's rapidly growing population and tackle many other global challenges, our country's next generation of leaders will need to be highly-skilled in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). That's why the America's Farmers Grow Rural Education Program, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, has awarded the Knights Ferry Elementary School District with a $25,000 grant.

Oakdale Joint Unified School Board Reconvenes For 2016-17

Monday night proved to be par for the course as Oakdale Joint Unified School District's Board of Trustees gathered for the first meeting of the 2016-17 school year. With the opening of the new year just two days post meeting, the session was a short 30-minute gathering reviewing financial reports and general business.

Magnolia Elementary School Welcomes New Vice Principal

As Oakdale youth busy themselves searching for shoes, backpacks and supplies, Oakdale Joint Unified School District administrators and staff are equally busy on their respective campuses. Each of the four elementary schools, as well as Oakdale Junior High, will welcome new administrators to their sites to start the 2016-17 school year. Classes resume for all students on Wednesday, Aug. 10.

Application Creation Event Offered To Local Students

U.S. Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) has announced the opening of California's 10th District Congressional App Challenge. This challenge invites middle and high school students to compete with peers to create and showcase their software application, or "app," for mobile, tablet or computer devices on a platform of their choice. The best app will be displayed in an exhibit in the U.S. Capitol. Submissions will be accepted until midnight on Nov. 2, 2016 and will be judged by a panel of local judges. The 10th District's winner will be announced during the week of Dec. 5, 2016.

Student Achieves 7 Years Of Perfect Attendance

Kiwanis Club of Oakdale recently acknowledged Oakdale Joint Unified students with the Hope of America award. The Hope of America Award is given yearly to students for academic achievement, citizenship and leadership.
