OJUSD Awards Diplomas To Graduates At All Levels

It was three packed days for students, families and administrators as Oakdale Joint Unified School District hosted graduations for Oakdale Charter School, East Stanislaus High, Oakdale Junior High and Oakdale High School during the past week. All but Oakdale Charter were hosted at Oakdale High School.

HOPE OF AMERICA

Two Cloverland Elementary Cougars were recently honored with the 2017 Hope of America Award: Brooklyn Gonzales and Mason Gausling. The presentation was made by the Oakdale Kiwanis Club, recognizing the pair for their academic achievement, moral leadership and caring for others.

Fair Oaks Falcon Audriana Beltran was acknowledged recently for her perfect attendance during all seven years of elementary school, not missing a day from kindergarten through sixth grade, receiving a special plaque in recognition of the achievement.

HONORED STUDENTS

Valley Home Students were recently acknowledged for their scholastic efforts at the Student of the Month assembly. Students honored were: Bryce McKenzie, Donovan Solis, Brady Seaton, Citlali Olvera, Skylah Mecca, Fatima Romo, Parton Topie, Payson Cox and Katelyn Lopes.

Sober Grad Committee Gets Ready For Mustangs

Maria Cobarruvias is passionate about the safety of the Oakdale High School Class of 2017. As the Sober Grad Night Event Chairperson, some might say it's a passion not exclusive to the current graduating class. Cobarruvias has headed up the Sober Grad effort for the past handful of years and this year is no different.

White, Lane Set To Address 2017 OHS Graduating Class

Oakdale High School seniors Elizabeth White and Taryn Lane have spent the better part of the past four years following the same academic path. On Friday, May 26 the young women will bid farewell to this chapter of their academic journey as they address the OHS Class of 2017 one final time.

INSPIRATIONAL VISIT

Cloverland Cougar alum paid a visit to their elementary school recently, parading the halls in their caps and gowns to inspire current Cougars as they look toward the future. Each Oakdale High School soon-to-be-graduate carried a sign announcing their name, GPA and intended post high school destination.

CURTAIN CALL

Oakdale Joint Unified Elementary School students, top photo, representing Cloverland, Sierra View, Fair Oaks and Magnolia performed for the Elementary Choir Concert last week. The Intermediate Choir performed under the guidance of District Instructor Kathy Larson. At side, taking one final bow, Beginning Choir Instructor Cynthia Hofmann, left, was publicly thanked on Wednesday night, May 17 by fellow instructor Kathy Larson. Larson shared the news of the long time music teacher's retirement with an audience who replied with a standing ovation. Hofmann spent over 28 years as a music educator with the Oakdale Joint Unified School District.

Music Makers Entertain Appreciative Audience At OJHS

Oakdale Junior High students and those from all four elementary schools – Cloverland, Fair Oaks, Magnolia and Sierra View – came together for a special event this past week. They entertained a packed house at Oakdale Junior High, showcasing some newly acquired musical skills, with beginning, intermediate and junior high band performances.

It's been 40 years since Nancy Kern first set foot in a classroom to begin her career as an educator. On Thursday, May 25 the Oakdale High School Art teacher will report to her class one final time, as she concludes her 16 years serving with the Oakdale Joint Unified School District.

HOPE HONORS

Oakdale Junior High School students Leilani Roper and Jordan Womack were recently named the recipients of the Kiwanis Hope of America award by the Kiwanis Club of Oakdale. The students were chosen for the honor based on their grades, leadership, character and caring for those around them.
