Shocking Science Lesson For Students

Fourth graders in the Oakdale Joint Unified School District learned a "shocking" lesson about electricity recently. Shocking Electricity is a science program collaboration between MID and the Great Valley Museum. The 90-minute presentations given by Chris Schmidt and Jon Stout of the Great Valley Museum covered fourth grade electricity standards and gave hands-on experiences to students.

OHS Homecoming Next Week

Oakdale High School is gearing up for Homecoming Week, which runs Oct. 5 through 9, wrapping up with the varsity football game on Friday, Oct. 9 where the Mustangs will face the Ceres High School Bulldogs. Varsity kickoff is scheduled for roughly 7 p.m., following the junior varsity game, which is scheduled for a 5 p.m. kickoff at The Corral.

Everyone needs more room in their closet. Formal dresses take up a lot of room, especially if they're no longer worn. The same goes for men's suits and other dress attire. A donation to the "Prom Closet" at Oakdale High School may provide the remedy that an overstuffed closet needs.

OJUSD Classified Employees To Be Honored

Public Invited To County Music Fest

Community members are invited to attend the Stanislaus County Music Festival on Friday, Jan. 25 and Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Modesto Junior College Auditorium. The festival will begin with high school and junior high school Honor Choir performing at 7p.m. on Friday. The high school and junior high school Honor Orchestra will perform at 2p.m. on Saturday with the festival concluding Saturday evening with the high school and junior high school Honor Band performing at 7p.m. There is no charge for admission.

Kids’ Museum Gives Glimpse Of Ancient Egypt

Magnolia Elementary School's annual sixth grade Egyptian Museum project was put on display on Dec. 21. Approximately 90 sixth graders from Rachelle Savage's, Shelley Rien's, Gina Bijleveld's and Steve Alban's classes participated by exhibiting their "artifacts" at the museum. Three classrooms hosted the museum and Egyptian hostesses welcomed other classes that toured the exhibits.
