Scholarship Nets $10,000 For Pabalan

Oakdale High School senior Rachelle Pabalan has kicked off the 'scholarship season' of the 2014-15 school year with her recent earning of a $10,000 Scholarship from Nordstrom. The high school senior was surprised by a check presentation, as well as a new Mac Book Air during her 6th period class on Monday.

Student Expulsions Approved

Oakdale Joint Unified School District's Monday night meeting began with a closed session, and Superintendent Marc Malone addressed those on hand for the public portion of the meeting, confirming the expulsion of two OJUSD students had been approved by the board at that closed session.

Junior High Efforts Receive County Recognition

Oakdale Junior High was recognized earlier this month by Stanislaus County Office of Education and the Board of Supervisors for its Red Ribbon Week decorating efforts. The school was awarded First Place in the Middle School/Junior High Division. A total of 30 schools from the varying grade level categories participated.

The most recent application came in the way of sharing the story of a Waterford couple in need of assistance. As a follow-up to the students spending time serving, they were asked to recount the experience in an article, as if writing for a newspaper.
