Valley Home School Board Hires Consultant

The Valley Home Joint School District Board of Trustees voted 3-0 to hire Educational Leadership Associates (ELA) to facilitate the process to fill the interim Superintendent/Principal position at the Oct. 11 regular meeting. The district will be receiving a discounted fee of $6,000 for the contract term and not to exceed $6,500 from the firm owned by retired Oakdale Joint Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Wendell Chun. Trustees Ron Smith and Susan Calvin were absent.

Elementary Band Numbers Increase

The Beginning Band program is busting at the seams in the Oakdale Joint Unified School District due to some ideas the district's band instructor Ross McGinnis implemented. However, the increase has resulted in a gap between the number of budding musicians and available instruments. Oakdale High Marching Band, Colorguard Take First Place

Driving rain, wind, and cold weather couldn't stop the Oakdale High School Marching Band recently as it took first place at the Lincoln Review of Champions in Stockton. On Nov. 17 bands from the Bay Area, Fresno, and the Central Coast flocked to the review because it's one of the last of the competitive marching band season, which coincides with the end of the football season.

More Salmon Spawning For Student Study This Year

The number of Chinook salmon returning to spawn in the Stanislaus River at the Knights Ferry recreation area appears to be one of the best in several years. Fourth graders in the Oakdale Joint Unified School District recently witnessed the spawning activity and did field studies as part of their state standards salmon unit.
