School District Adds Another K Class

Throngs of students and parents descended on Oakdale's schools this past week for the official start of school on Wednesday, Aug. 11. As of that day, the district had 5,345 total students enrolled, according to the district's Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Marc Malone.

Students “Rounded Up” For School’s Start

The school bells are ringing as school is back in session today, Aug. 11 in the Oakdale Joint Unified School District. However, before the hustle and bustle of the first day a lot of preparation took place at Oakdale Junior High School and Oakdale High School to process paperwork for the students and to orient new students to the campus in what are known as "Round Up."

Round Ups, Orientations Kick Off School

The first day of school in the Oakdale Joint Unified School District is just two weeks away, starting on Wednesday, Aug. 11. To get students familiar with campuses, provide them with class schedules, take photos, purchase PE clothes, and more, the high school and junior high hold a series of roundups for all students and orientations for new, incoming students.

East Coast Tour Fun, Educational For Students

An educational tour of Washington D.C. and Richmond, Virginia turned out to be hot and humid, but also educational as 31 recent Oakdale Junior High School graduates and four teachers headed east for a week during the summer.

Typically, the eighth grade trip to Washington D.C. is scheduled to take place during spring break, but this year organizers decided to try something different.

Schools Get Summer Vacation Spruce Up

Summer is the time for major cleaning and special maintenance projects at the schools and this year is no exception in Oakdale.The entrance area to the Oakdale High School gymnasium is undergoing some modifications as the school district brings it up to date to satisfy ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) guidelines. Students Micaela Maaske and Emily Greenwood have attended Oakdale schools all their lives and each recently completed the sixth grade. One was at Magnolia the other at Sierra View and somehow each managed to never miss a day of school.
