Oakdale Joint Unified School District Superintendent Marc Malone is creating three new councils to serve in advisory and facilitative roles to the district related to facilities planning, operational planning, and classroom education.
Two-year contracts for Oakdale Joint Unified School District assistant superintendents Barbara Shook and Terri Taylor were unanimously approved by the OJUSD Board of Trustees in an action at the July 11 regular meeting. The contracts are effective through June 30, 2013.

He was the unanimous choice to fill the role of a seven-person interview panel that included Oakdale Joint Unified School District Superintendent Marc Malone and Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum Barbara Shook, two elementary school principals, a teacher, an office staff member, and a parent.
Lessons learned from United States history books came alive when a contingent of three Oakdale Junior High School teachers and 40 recent eighth grade graduates made a non-school educational trip to the East Coast, covering Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and New York City.
After serving for 10 years as the Oakdale Teachers Association president, Sierra View Elementary School teacher Linda Kraus recently stepped down. Noting that "it's time" to make room for new blood and to focus more on her other California Teachers Association project commitments and as council chairperson for the Stanislaus Service Center, which serves more than 25 locals, Kraus has passed the reins to fellow Sierra View teacher Stacy Graham.
School is out for summer but the district's maintenance employees are getting the annual deep cleanings and special maintenance projects done while the students are on vacation.
For now, there are no new planned budget cuts for the Oakdale Joint Unified School District. Following a public hearing at the June 13 regular meeting of the OJUSD Board of Trustees, the board unanimously approved the 2011-2012 proposed budget.

The sounds of "Pomp and Circumstance" rang out for three nights in a row in Oakdale from May 25-27 to commemorate the graduations of more than 760 combined graduates from Oakdale schools.
