Students Off For Southwest Adventure

School Bells - Teachers Association Selects Winners

Two local educators or community members who make a significant difference in the community through their contributions toward the enhancement and improvement of education and the enrichment of the lives of children are selected by the Oakdale Teachers Association each year to receive the California Teachers Association School Bell award. They help instill in others the knowledge, judgment and values that shape society and enhance the lives of future generations.

Job Shadow Event, Scholarships Draw Record Number Of Students

In what is being called a rousing success by participants, the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce sponsored job shadow event hosted the highest number of applicants in the history of the program with 37 students and 43 applicants.

Malone To Assume Superintendent Role

After a comprehensive and competitive search process, Marc Malone was recently named the new Superintendent for the Oakdale Joint Unified School District. Malone currently serves as the district's Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and will assume the Superintendent role on July 1 from the retiring Fred Rich.

Elementary Schools Celebrate Rodeo Spirit

Oakdale elementary schools got into the rodeo spirit on April 8, embracing Oakdale's western heritage by dressing and decorating in cowboy style in honor of the Oakdale Rodeo.

Medals Won At Elementary Science Olympiad

Fair Oaks Elementary School recently won the Elementary Science Olympiad, out of 20 teams, bringing home their third championship in the past five years. The Fair Oaks team consisted of 17 members and was coached by teachers Danny Rogers and Mary White. Fair Oaks had 10 students medal in six events.

Students Earn Science Medals At NorCal Competition

The Oakdale High School Science Olympiad team had its best finish yet at the NorCal State Science Olympiad championship, according to team coach Cameron Nickerson. This year the team earned medals in three events, compared to one medal on each of the two prior trips to the NorCal event.

OJUSD Announces New Superintendent Of Schools

The search is over for a new Superintendent for the Oakdale Joint Unified School District and the Board of Trustees didn't have to look too far. Current Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Marc Malone was tapped to fill the Superintendent position after a comprehensive search and two full days of interviews.

"Simply stated, a comprehensive search and interview process was always foremost in the minds of the trustees," said Board President Rick W. Jones. "The interview process was arduous and fair, with top-quality candidates applying. It was unequivocally clear that Marc Malone truly earned the Superintendent's position."

Honor Guard Shows Respect For Flag

The raising and lowering of the American flag at Cloverland Elementary School is carried out daily by a group of well-trained second graders, and by the somber looks on their faces when they carry out the task, they take what they're doing quite seriously.

Renaissance Conference Helps Promote Academics

Oakdale High School hosted the Central Valley Jostens Renaissance Conference on March 30 at the Gene Bianchi Community Center. Students and adult advisors from numerous junior high and high schools attended the event that included an inspirational speaker, workshops for students and advisors alike, an interactive lunch with a DJ host, and a rally.

Day Camp Wraps Action Packed Summer
