OHS Top Academic Students Named

Four graduating seniors will take their rightful places at the top of their graduating class at Oakdale High School this year. There were ties for the honors of Valedictorian and Salutatorian. The class of 2009 Valedictorians are Karen Molokach and Katie Zeff, and Salutatorians are Chris Gebhart and Sara Peterson.

Annual Art Corps Show Features Student Work

Cloverland Elementary School hosted its Fifth Annual Art Corps art show, "Grow Smart with Art" on May 6 and 7. Student artwork was featured in the art show held in the school cafeteria.

Boggs Captures Volz Scholarship

Oakdale High School senior Evan Boggs was recently tapped as the winner of this year's coveted Leo Volz scholarship. The Volz scholarship pays full tuition and books for a student for four years to the college of their choice.

Saving Jobs

The Oakdale Joint Unified School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved several action calendar items that resulted in across the board pay cuts, including for themselves, in order to save jobs and balance the budget at the regular meeting on May 11. However, with the cuts, some classified employee jobs still could not be spared.

Oakdale Educators Named Teachers Of The Year

The Modesto Rotary and the Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) announced the selection of four local educators as 2009 Teachers of the Year at a Modesto Rotary luncheon on Tuesday, May 5 at the DoubleTree, where each received a $1,000 cash award.

Ag Days Teach Kids About Food, Fiber

Sierra View and Magnolia elementary schools held their annual Ag Day Roundup events on April 22. These agriculture appreciation days are to help students understand the importance of agriculture in their everyday lives and to create more awareness, especially since Oakdale is such a large Ag area.
