Inspiration Abounds At Student Art Show

Every student at Cloverland Elementary School produced a piece of art for the school's Sixth Annual Art Corps Art Show - that's 540 pieces of student artwork, plus teacher artwork. This year's theme was "Art & Soul" for the event that was open to the public, held May 12-13.

Graduation Times Set For Oakdale Schools

In the Oakdale Joint Unified School District, the Alternative Education graduations, which consists of East Stanislaus, Valley Oak and Oakdale Charter High School, will take place at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26 at the Oakdale High School gym. Doors open at 7p.m. Approximately 75 to 80 students will graduate.

Fair Oaks GO Club Wins Junior Cup

Fair Oaks Elementary School Go Club (FOGO) students recently won the Junior School Cup in an online national (plus Canada) school team 'Go' tournament and had its youngest players ever, two third graders, and the most girls ever, half of the players. They also set a new record for the most points earned in the Junior Division.

Kindergarten Science Sprouts Interest

Kindergartners at Sierra View recently participated in the first Super 'K' Science Day where they covered life, earth, and physical sciences. Organized by district science teacher Anne Marie Bergen at the request of Sierra View teachers, and with support from volunteers, each kindergarten class took a half-hour rotation through a series of five different science themes that encompassed the full morning.

Two School Bell Winners Recognized

Two Oakdale Joint Unified School District employees, Penny Muniain and Shelly Crist, will be honored at a dinner on Friday, May 7 as recipients of the School Bell Award. Oakdale Teachers Association President Linda Kraus described the School Bell as an award that is "given to educators and/or community members who exemplify service to the community through their contributions toward the enhancement and improvement of education and the enrichment of the lives of children."

OHS Drama Club Goes To Broadway For Spring Break

After a six-hour red eye flight on April 9 from San Francisco to New York City, 50 students of the Oakdale High School Drama club and chaperones, under the direction of OHS drama teacher Bryan Mills, explored the Big Apple for five days during their spring break.
