Junior High Royal Rams Set Fundraising Record

Oakdale Junior High School recently hosted its annual Royal Rams event. This year's festivities hosted 28 couples (56 eighth grade students). Proceeds from the event benefit the annual eighth grade field trip to Great America.

County’s ‘Come Back Kids’ Program Accepting Students

The Stanislaus County Office of Education will hold an informational orientation for individuals interested in learning how to earn a high school diploma through its Come Back Kids program. Come Back Kids (CBK) is a free, independent study program for adults (18+) who want to come back and complete their education. The orientation is an opportunity for prospective students to learn more about the program. The next orientation is slated for Monday, Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Martin Petersen Event Center, 720 12th St., Modesto.

Area Students Gear Up For Academic Decathlon

Weathering late-night study sessions, team practices and hours of reading, Stanislaus County high school students are pulling out all the stops as they head into the home stretch of preparations for the 2017 Stanislaus County Academic Decathlon. School Board Gavel Passes To Shook

The gavel was literally passed during Monday night's meeting, as the Oakdale Joint Unified School Board met for its final meeting of the 2016 calendar year. The board unanimously seated Barbara Shook as President; Larry Betschart as Clerk and Mike House was named School Board Representative.

GENEROUS DONATION

Oakdale Joint Unified School District Superintendent Marc Malone, center, was presented with a check for $50,000 last week for the Oakdale School Farm. The check presentation was made by Oakdale Educational Foundation during their annual OEF Grant Awards Reception. The volunteer not for profit supports Oakdale schools at the classroom as well as district level via grants and donations.

OHS Seniors Earn American Heritage Scholarship Funds

A total of five Oakdale High School seniors were among the 19 Stanislaus County students honored last Thursday with monetary scholarships. This fall, 195 high school juniors and seniors from throughout the county participated in the American Heritage Scholarship Series essay contest.

Magnolia Elementary teacher Lauren Brown helps a student with spending her dollars wisely during the school's recent visit from Food 4 Thought, LLC. Each of Oakdale's four elementary schools is treated to a visit and a lesson by the company raising ag awareness during the school year. This is the second year the company has partnered with OJUSD to bring the lesson and concept to its elementary schools.
