A total of five Oakdale High School seniors were among the 19 Stanislaus County students honored last Thursday with monetary scholarships. This fall, 195 high school juniors and seniors from throughout the county participated in the American Heritage Scholarship Series essay contest.

Magnolia Elementary teacher Lauren Brown helps a student with spending her dollars wisely during the school's recent visit from Food 4 Thought, LLC. Each of Oakdale's four elementary schools is treated to a visit and a lesson by the company raising ag awareness during the school year. This is the second year the company has partnered with OJUSD to bring the lesson and concept to its elementary schools.

Cloverland Students Enjoy Hands-On Ag Learning

It may have been a rainy day on Friday, but that didn't stop the presenters from turning out and the kids from taking it all in as Cloverland Elementary hosted its Ag Day. Kids got to meet and greet some animals, learn about horseshoeing, try their hand at dummy roping and more. Plenty of pop-ups were in evidence, as the students and presenters tried to stay dry. Fourth Graders Begin To Examine Chinook

Things may seem a little fishy with Oakdale Joint Unified fourth graders these days, as teacher Krista Smith has begun making her migration to the varying school sites. Smith's migration, however, doesn't come by way of a fish snack cracker or a classroom pet, the salmon teacher spends two days of lecture time teaching the students about Chinook Salmon. As result of her teachings the students then travel to Knights Ferry to visit the Stanislaus River and learn further about the sea life in their natural habitat.
