County Culinary School Cooking Up Cool

Fair Oaks Changes Parent Group Affiliation

Fair Oaks Elementary School has made a switch from the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to the Parent Teacher Club (PTC). The PTA group decided to disband and become a new type of parent-teacher organization because they felt a PTC would better meet the needs of the school.

Fall Previews Debut Today

As the 2012-13 school year ushers in a new cast of athletes for each sport, it also offers a chance for the Oakdale Leader to preview Oakdale High's perennially successful programs on their respective fields of play. Enrollment Up In Oakdale Schools

Student enrollment numbers appear to be up slightly this year, wrapping up a full week of school in the Oakdale Joint Unified School District. School started Aug. 14 and OJUSD Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Terri Taylor supplied enrollment numbers on Aug 20.

Oakdale Student Takes Board Seat

Oakdale High School senior Madison Lane was sworn in and took her seat on the Oakdale Joint Unified School District Board of Trustees at the Aug. 13 regular meeting. Sworn in by board president Mike Tozzi, Lane was selected as the student representative to the board for the 2012-2013 school year and will vote on matters before the board, except for personnel matters.

OHS Marching Band Preps For Fall

The Oakdale High School marching band recently participated in a three-day band camp so as to "hit the ground running" at the start of school, said school district band director Ross McGinnis.

School Starts, New ROP Culinary Program Offered

Culinary arts are on the menu of offerings at the new campus of Oakdale Community School which opens Wednesday, Aug. 15 at South Yosemite Avenue and Wakefield Drive. The school, which is run by the Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE), is offering the new culinary arts program to its own students and also Oakdale High School students.
