SOS Fundraiser This Saturday

The SOS (Save Oakdale Schools) family fun walk/run is taking place this Saturday, March 9 at 8:30 a.m., starting at Cloverland Elementary School. The fundraiser is a fun event that promotes fitness and raises money for Oakdale Joint Unified School District schools that are trying to make do with less because of budget cuts.

Oakdale High School's "Gold" team recently captured a fourth place finish and secured its fifth consecutive trip to the Northern California (Nor Cal) Science Olympiad State Finals during the 27th Annual Stanislaus County Regional Science Olympiad held March 2 at CSU Stanislaus.

CSU Student Financial Aid Applications Due

Students wishing to apply for financial aid for California State University campuses for the 2013-2014 academic year should submit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The priority deadline for submitting a FAFSA is Saturday, March 2. Students are strongly encouraged to apply by that priority deadline, as financial aid may be limited for submissions after March 2.

OHS Team Earns Academic Medals, Awards At County Competition

Oakdale High School finished first overall and also won the Super Quiz at the 33rd Annual Stanislaus County Academic Decathlon on Feb. 1-2 at Gregori High School, Modesto. The "Aca Dec" is considered the biggest academic event for local high schools and is presented by the Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE). It is a two-day series of tests, speeches and interviews, featuring this year's theme, "Russia" with a focus on the space race and the Russian revolution.

A Baker's Dozen - Aca Dec Team Takes Trophy

Oakdale High School has taken the academic championship trophy again, for the 13th time in a row. The OHS team beat out 11 other high schools, swept the top spots for individual high points, and also won the Super Quiz at the 33rd Annual Stanislaus County Academic Decathlon on Feb. 1-2 at Gregori High School, Modesto.

Oakdale School Board Partly Restores Salary Cuts

Oakdale Joint Unified School District employees will see a portion of their salaries restored in actions taken by the district Board of Trustees at the Feb. 4 regular meeting. The school district is able to meet the costs incurred.

Record Keepers: OHS Wins Academic Decathlon

Oakdale High School's winning record at the Stanislaus County Academic Decathlon has stayed intact for the 13th consecutive year. OHS brought the championship trophy back to Oakdale from the two-day event filled with interviews, speeches, and tests on Feb. 1-2 at Gregori High School in Modesto. The OHS team now advances to the state contest held in mid-March in Sacramento.

Oakdale High School senior Rachelle Pabalan has kicked off the 'scholarship season' of the 2014-15 school year with her recent earning of a $10,000 Scholarship from Nordstrom. The high school senior was surprised by a check presentation, as well as a new Mac Book Air during her 6th period class on Monday.
