The mixer was to encourage and accept payment for name plates to be ordered for future placement around the iconic 'Yesterday Is Tomorrow' cowboy statue along East F Street near the Oakdale Cowboy Museum. Hydrant Painting Project Helps Duo Achieve Eagle

One weekend earlier this month, Curtis and Howard Kemp completed their Eagle Scout project which included scraping (wire brush), solvent cleaning, and painting more than 100 fire hydrants in the City of Oakdale. The fire captain working near one of the hydrants located on Walnut Avenue came over to personally thank them, noting that the department itself has not had time to repaint the hydrants in several years.

Author Faire Set

The Stanislaus County Library is looking for local published authors from around the Central Valley to take part in the seventh annual Local Author Fair on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will take place outside on the 16th Street side of the Modesto Library portico. Local authors will have the opportunity to promote their works, as well as sell and sign copies of their publications. Oakdale Women’s Club Slates Sept. 13 Meeting

The Oakdale Women's Club is meeting Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club. The buffet luncheon will start at noon. The theme is Back to School and the featured speaker is Christina Carmelich. Local women are encouraged to come to the luncheon and enjoy hearing Christina, a docent at Columbia State Park, speak about the Columbia's old school house and its history.

It goes without saying that Oakdale High School is passionate about their sports, at all levels. If you ever attended an OHS sporting event and Pete Simoncini is behind the microphone, you have heard him say "Welcome to Oakdale High School, the pride of the Valley Oak League."
