Drugstore Project Continues Prevention Education

Over 800 elementary school students and several dozen adult and high school volunteers made a somewhat unique pilgrimage to Fair Oaks Elementary School earlier this month. A number of service agencies were also onsite including Oakdale Police Department, Oakdale Fire Department, Oak Valley Hospital, Oakdale Memorial Chapel and many more in observance of the bi-yearly 'Drugstore Project.'

Two OID Directors Actions Questioned

With an April litigation regarding water sales against the Oakdale Irrigation District going through various motions in Stanislaus County Superior Court, two sitting OID directors who cast March 15 dissenting votes for the sale, have voluntarily provided the plaintiffs' attorney with declarations containing emails they had with OID General Manager Steve Knell. After the information was supplied, the court reversed its decision from allowing the program to putting a halt until environmental concerns could be addressed.

Road Closure Causes Headache

Drivers heading south on Yosemite Avenue or coming into town from Patterson Road found an unexpected surprise Wednesday morning, May 11 with the closure of the main artery through town. With "unforeseen circumstances" arising from construction, the city was forced to close South Yosemite Avenue between G Street and J Street. The shutting down of the thoroughfare was scheduled to last, according to the City of Oakdale, through Tuesday, May 17.
