Active Week Seen In OID Legal Drama

The courts were active with Oakdale Irrigation District legal actions this past week which saw lawyers for both sides busy with briefs for an upcoming hearing, a judge's decision, and one plaintiff filing a complaint with the district attorney alleging malfeasance by certain board members and its general manager.

District Sparring Peaks At Meeting

After a week of court actions (see related article below), the Oakdale Irrigation District Board of Directors met on Wednesday, Sept 21. During the emotionally charged meeting, factions sounded off, including the meeting ending with General Manager Steve Knell defending himself against media accusations, sounding off against Director Linda Santos, which was trailed by Santos defending herself with her own stern retorts back to Knell.

It's a passing of time which visibly stumps the owner of the Oakdale-based business Apparel Graphics, Inc. as he recalls the early days of specializing in screen printing and embroidery.

TEAR IT UP

Work has now started on another street project in town, this one on North Second Avenue between C and E streets. The project will include pavement, water and sewer main replacement and is being funded with a variety of city and tax funds. The work is on the street that normally allows access to the police department; access can be made from North Third.

Harvest Festival Back At Bloomingcamp Ranch

Hay is being set for pumpkins, participants and hay rides as the staff of Bloomingcamp Ranch prepares for its annual Harvest Festival. The event will be hosted at the ranch just east of Oakdale on Saturday, Sept. 24 and Sunday, Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Directors Santos, Altieri Fire Back At OID

Oakdale Irrigation District board members Linda Santos and Gail Altieri filed statements with Stanislaus County Superior Court earlier this month explaining their actions from a lawsuit in which they were accused of providing confidential information to plaintiffs suing the water district.

City Council Plans For Airport Future

Regional Gas Prices Slowly On The Rise

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have risen 5.0 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.61/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has increased 2.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.20/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
