Italian Dairymen Touch Down For Tour

Not your usual stop, but a tour bus pulled up in the parking lot of the A.L. Gilbert Company in Oakdale recently, filled with nearly four dozen Italian dairymen and their spouses. For the most part, the Italian visitors were in California on vacation, but decided to work a few days so they took a tour of the A.L. Gilbert Company and of a few dairies in the Stanislaus-San Joaquin County area.

Manager Seeks Cost Recovery

Newly appointed Oakdale City Manager Bryan Whitemyer hit the ground running in ways to ease the city's financial woes. Whitemyer, only on the job since Feb. 4, announced that recent California Department of Finance rulings have allowed California cities to recover some of their costs lost with the dissolution of former redevelopment agencies and the administrative costs now associated with the successor agencies.
