State Gas Prices Higher Than National Average

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have risen 0.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.78/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has increased 4.3 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.32/gallon, according to gasoline price website

Members of the CAPS, Citizens Auxiliary Police Service, in Oakdale were on hand at the recent Chamber of Commerce Home Show, offering information to residents about the services they provide in the city. The group is also looking for new volunteers to join the CAPS, who assist the police department in such ways as doing vacation checks, fingerprinting for kids, crowd and traffic control at special events and more.
