Superintendent Search

A timeline of the Superintendent search process was covered at a special meeting of the Oakdale Joint Unified School District Board of Trustees on Monday, Jan. 10. Dr. Wendell Chun of Educational Leadership Services (ELS), who was selected to conduct the school district's search for a new superintendent, provided the review.

OID Creates New Job

The Oakdale Irrigation District is at a point in modernization and automation of its canal facilities that it needs to hire a technological person to manage and maintain its control and data acquisition (SCADA) sites, said OID General Manager Steve Knell at the Jan. 4 regular meeting of the Board of Directors. The board unanimously approved a new staff position for an information technology/SCADA coordinator.

Oakdale Chamber Announces Annual Award Nominees

At the Oakdale Annual Awards Banquet each year the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce honors members of the community for Citizen of the Year, Junior Achievement, Community Service, Business of the Year and Lifetime Achievement. Fire Officials Provide Investigation Update

An estimated dozen residents attended an incident review at Oakdale's Fire Station 1 on Dec. 15 regarding a California Avenue house fire and the delayed response in late October that allowed the fire to gain a stronghold before crews arrived on the scene.

School Nurse Advises Getting Booster Shots Now For Students

A state law that requires students currently in sixth through eleventh grades must have their whooping cough (pertussis) booster shots prior to starting school next year has the Oakdale Joint Unified School District urging parents to take care of it now. If students don't have shot records showing proof, they won't be allowed to enroll in school.
