Interim City Manager Stan Feathers announced on Nov. 5 that retired Waterford City Administrator Chuck Deschenes has joined the city's management team as an interim operations manager. Deschenes replaces retired Merced County CEO Demetrios "Dee" Tatum, who leaves the position due to state regulations on the limited number of hours he can work after retirement.

Low Count Closes Hospital Ward

A dropping occupancy rate in Oak Valley Hospital's surgical and medical ward to only two patients caused the closing of the unit earlier this month until the number of in-house care patients was able to rise at the 35-bed facility. The two remaining patients were transferred to the hospital's intensive care unit for their care.
