UOP Research Study Predicts Continued California Recovery

The California economy will maintain steady growth according to the latest projection from the Center for Business and Policy Research at the University of the Pacific. California is experiencing substantially faster job growth than the rest of the U.S., and the State's economy is expected to maintain steady 3 percent growth for the next several years even as the pace of job growth slows from 3 percent to a still solid 2 percent in 2016. Tree Mortality Focus Of Area Grant Awards

With massive tree mortality across California, CAL FIRE announced Monday it has awarded 19 State Responsibility Area Fire Prevention Fund grants in six counties that have been greatly affected by tree mortality. Over $1.7 million was approved for local projects focused on the removal of dead and dying trees in order to reduce the wildfire threat around homes within the counties of Fresno, Kern, Madera, Mariposa, Tulare and Tuolumne.

Area Gas Prices Decline

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have fallen 10.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.26/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has fallen 2.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $1.80/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

American Pickers To Film In California

California is excited to welcome Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz and Antique Archeology to the area. The team will film episodes of their hit series American Pickers throughout California, including the Central Valley region. Filming is scheduled for early March.

Several Californians Named To Air Quality Task Force

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the renewal of the USDA Agricultural Air Quality Task Force and the selection of its members for the 2016-2018 term on Monday, Feb. 1.
