Wounded Warrior To Speak At MJC

Modesto Junior College Veterans Services and MJC Health Services will present speaker Jeremiah Pauley, a participant in the Wounded Warrior Project's "Warrior Speaks" program on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 6p.m. on the East Campus Quad, 435 College Ave., Modesto. The free event is open to the public and on campus parking is available for $1 in student parking lots.

After a month long investigation, a former Boy Scout troop leader and Oakdale business owner was arrested by Stanislaus County Sheriff's detectives on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 5 for engaging in sexual acts with a minor and showing the minor pornography.

Park Alcohol Ban Moves Forward

Rim Fire Sends Smoke To Valley Floor

The Rim Fire in Tuolumne County has prompted local air officials to issue a health cautionary statement for smoke impacts in six Valley air basin counties: San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Madera, Fresno and Tulare, especially the foothill and mountain areas. The caution is in place through Labor Day weekend, when visitors will be traveling to the Sierra Nevada.
