The Shaw siblings, shown here, along with their parents, make up the Shaw Family Band, which will perform a holiday gospel concert at Escalon First Baptist Church on Dec. 15. The concert is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. There is no admission charge for the concert; however, an offering will be received for the Shaw Family Band. First Baptist Church is just off McHenry Avenue at 1511 Catherine Way in Escalon.

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have fallen 4.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.92/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has fallen 2.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.45/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

The Oakdale Police Department will be out with an increased presence in the city's commercial areas during this time, working to intercept crooks before they ruin someone's holiday season.

Monday night's monthly school board meeting proved to be the perfect opportunity for Superintendent of Schools Marc Malone to share with the board, as well as community members the improvements which have been made during that time to the tune of over $10 million, by way of developer fees.

Over $6,000 in college scholarships and the Distinguished Young Woman of Oakdale title will be awarded at the program to be held March 10, 2018 at Magnolia School Auditorium.
