Holiday Boutiques Usher In November

The first Saturday of November heralded the arrival of the holiday shopping season with a couple of festive boutiques. The annual St. Mary' Catholic Church Craft Fair drew plenty of shoppers and diners both Saturday and Sunday, with breakfast and lunch available. Not far away, the Oakdale Family Church of the Nazarene played host to another craft fair, with tables set up outside and indoors. Food was also available for purchase there.

Fire Chief Headed For Tracy

The City of Tracy has named Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District Chief Randall Bradley as its new fire chief to head its 65-staff, seven station department effective Dec. 1.

Bicycle Fundraiser Aids Rescue Mission

As part of their 75th Anniversary Celebration, the Gospel Center Rescue Mission is hosting its inaugural "Spinning With A Mission" bicycling fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Oak Park in Stockton. All proceeds raised for the event will benefit the mission and the programs they offer to aid the homeless and addicted in the community. The Gospel Center Rescue Mission is the only agency in San Joaquin County that meets the long-term needs of the homeless and has the highest success in their recovery.

Saturday Adoption Event Scheduled At Local PetCo

The Oakdale Shelter Pet Alliance, OSPA, will be hosting a pet adoption event at PetCo in the Crossroads Shopping Center in Riverbank on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. with hope to find forever homes for some furry little friends.

The ASTRO (Animal Shelter To Riverbank and Oakdale) Foundation has the perfect gift item for the hard to please. As tribute to its rescued pets and the rescuers who put their lives on the line daily, the 501(C)3 non-profit has produced "Rescuers and the Rescued" wall calendars for the 2016 year.

AAUW Invites Public To November Meeting

California Soaks Up Lower Pump Prices

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have fallen 0.8 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.61/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has fallen 5.4 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.26/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
