Car Clean-Up Event Set

Are you a San Joaquin Valley resident? Have you owned your car for six months? Does your car fail emissions testing? If so, join Valley CAN (Clean Air Now) and the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District for a free emissions test and diagnostic inspection. If your car fails the test, you may receive a voucher for free smog repairs. Nationwide Pump Prices Seeing Downward Trend

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have risen 2.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.64/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has fallen 2.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.34/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

In advance of placing American flags throughout the community for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday observance on Monday, Jan. 16, Oakdale Lions Club members Alan Turner, left, and Don Lee vacuumed out and prepared the post holes on Saturday morning, Jan. 14. Lee is the project chairman and said there are specific routes that the Lions Club has for flag placement on holidays; with 340 total flags placed, along East F, West F and an area encompassing First, Second and Third streets as well as North and South Yosemite avenues.
