Oakdale To Finalize Conservation Plan

With California water regulators having voted to approve fines up to $500 a day for residents who waste water on lawns, landscaping and car washing, the City of Oakdale must now come up with a conservation plan for its residents and 7000 water customers.

Statue Capstone Unveiling Celebrates Cowboy Day

The Oakdale Garden Club along with Project Coordinator Dan Holman will be hosting a champagne reception at the unveiling of the recently installed capstones surrounding Oakdale's famous "Yesterday Is Tomorrow" cowboy statue in front of the Oakdale Cowboy Museum on Saturday, July 26 at 12:30 p.m. The unveiling and reception are open to the public.

A series of questions presented by residents regarding Landscape and Lighting Maintenance District (LLMD) assessments for Burchell Hill, Bridle Ridge, and The Vineyards developments resulted in over an hour of dialogue at Monday night's Oakdale City Council meeting. The final result was a 4-1 vote to delay the agenda item until those questions could be answered.

Record Crop Predicted For Almond Growers

The Almond Board of California reported on Tuesday, July 1 that the state should expect a record harvest for this fall's crop. Based on 860,000 bearing acres – nearly 900 orchards – in the state, the California Almond objective forecast for the 2014-2015 crop is 2.10 billion meat pounds, an all-time high.

Controller Candidate Requests Multi-County Recount

Stanislaus County Clerk Recorder and Registrar of Voters, Lee Lundrigan, has been advised by the Office of the California Secretary of State that State Controller third place candidate John Perez has requested a partial recount in the primary race election for California State Controller. The November General Gubernatorial Election ballot will list only the top two primary race candidates receiving the most votes in the June 3 Primary Election. The State Controller race has a clear first place candidate for the November ballot, yet the third place candidate is separated from the second place by only 481 votes.
