CAL FIRE Stresses Safety As July 4 Holiday Approaches

With the Fourth of July holiday quickly approaching, CAL FIRE is reminding everyone to do their part to prevent fires and injuries caused by fireworks. Two out of five fires on the Fourth of July are caused by fireworks, more than any other cause of fires. The majority of these incidents are related to either the use of illegal fireworks or state-approved fireworks that are used incorrectly.

Vietnam Moving Wall On Display In Stockton

The Vietnam Moving Wall is now on display at the Weber Point Events Center in Stockton. A ribbon cutting was scheduled Thursday, June 29 at 3 p.m. to open the exhibit for tours and the wall will remain in the area through Monday, July 3. A special program is scheduled for Saturday, July 1 at noon, honoring veterans and the sacrifices and contributions they have made to our country.

Hutton Stages ‘Wax Museum’

Next up at Hutton's Hamlet will be a performance of "Night at the Wax Museum" on Friday and Saturday, July 7 and 8. Six students who have flunked history retake the class in summer school, and set up a new wax museum as a class project. A mysterious incantation from the back of Cleopatra's bracelet by one of the students brings the wax figures to life.

This past Thursday, nearly 50 kids packed the Oakdale Library for a craft activity, Design Your Fun. While the temperature outside climbed into the triple digits, the Oakdale Library, which serves as a designated cooling center, was the perfect spot for kids to come to and enjoy an afternoon of fun crafts.

SBA Tops $10 Million In Disaster Assistance

Regional Administrator Michael Vallante of the U.S. Small Business Administration announced this past week that SBA has approved more than $10 million in federal disaster loans for California businesses and residents impacted by severe storms and flooding that occurred Feb. 1 through 25, 2017. According to Vallante, SBA has approved $4,738,800 for businesses and $5,283,300 for residents to help rebuild and recover from this disaster.
