Center For Human Services Hosts Block Party

Center for Human Services (CHS) Oakdale Family Resource and Counseling Center will host the Seventh Annual Community Block Party on Friday, Oct. 6 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 631 W. F St., Oakdale. This family-friendly event focuses on providing information, connections and fun activities to residents in Oakdale and neighboring communities. Dozens of organizations will share their resources as well as free food, music, a photo booth, giveaways and face painting. CHS - Oakdale Family Resource and Counseling Center will also host a free market that will include books, clothing and household items.

OHS Homecoming Events Soon To Start

Fall is in the air and Oakdale High school leadership is ready to welcome it with a number of activities celebrating the 2017 Homecoming Week. While varying activities have begun, Homecoming week officially begins on the high school campus on Monday, Oct. 9 with a Meme Dress Up day.

Little Oakdale Stampede Mascots Skye Turner and Paizlee Gillmore brought their cute Stampede spirit to the field to help cheer on the varsity boys during a recent contest at The Corral. Both Skye and Paizlee are part of a mascot squad that helps cheer at different levels each home game; the Stampede youth football squads return to The Corral for games this Saturday, Oct. 7.

Special Exhibits, Activities Slated At Crocker Museum

A special exhibit, some ongoing and upcoming programs are being featured at the Crocker Art Museum, 216 O St., downtown Sacramento. Program Offers Information On Manufacturing Opportunities

In celebration of Manufacturing Day, area companies including Flory Industries, Hilmar Cheese, Flowers Baking Company, Fresh Point, E. & J. Gallo, and Gallo Glass will open their doors for student tours. The tours, running Oct. 3 through 6, include more than 300 high school and vocational training students from Modesto City Schools, Patterson Unified School District, Oakdale High School, and DeHart Technical School as part of an effort to get students and educators excited about today's manufacturing environment and draw attention to the variety of career pathways available locally in manufacturing.

State Theatre Hosts Film

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Stanislaus Family Justice Center along with Haven Women's Center, the Stanislaus Office of Education, the Stanislaus Commission on Women and CSU Stanislaus invite the public to a free movie event at The State Theatre. There will be a panel discussion following the film Sleeping With The Enemy, with the screening set for Thursday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m.
