Save Mart Supermarkets Aid Valley Children’s Healthcare

Save Mart Supermarkets has teamed up with Valley Children's Healthcare to help raise money for critical services. From Monday, April 17 to Sunday, April 30, shoppers can tear off $2, $3 or $5 coupons at checkout. Once scanned, the donation will be added to their grocery bill. All proceeds will benefit this premiere pediatric facility. The fundraising drive will be held at 44 Save Mart stores throughout the Central Valley, from Sonora to Porterville, including the local stores in Oakdale and Riverbank.

Utility Pays Cities, Counties Property Taxes, Franchise Fees

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is paying property taxes and franchise fees of more than $337 million this spring to the 50 counties and 243 cities where the energy company owns and operates gas and electric infrastructure that serves 16 million Californians.

Knights Ferry History Museum and Associates in cooperation with the Army Corps of Engineers will host the 27th Annual Gold Country Peddlers Faire on Sunday, April 23. The event will be hosted at the Stanislaus River Park, on Covered Bridge Road, Knights Ferry, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A large selection of antiques, collectibles, handmade crafts and art, as well as food booths will be on hand. The event is held, rain or shine, and features more than 100 dealers; admission is free.

Area Pump Prices Climb

Average retail gasoline prices in Modesto have risen 3.2 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.84/gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 201 gas outlets in Modesto. This compares with the national average that has increased 1.1 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.40/gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Family Resource Center Sets Third Annual Baby Shower

On Saturday, May 6, Center for Human Services – Oakdale Family Resource and Counseling Center will host its Third Annual Community Baby Shower. Up to 15 women can attend the event and each woman is encouraged to bring a support person for a total of 30 attendees. Spots will be filled on a first come first served basis and each participant who registers in advance will receive a special prize.
