First Phase Of Project Sees Water Line Work

On a recent 100-degree day, work crews on C Street in Oakdale were busy digging through the roadway to replace an aging water main. The line runs from Johnson Avenue to South Sixth Avenue.

McNerney Offers Legislation To Aid Veterans In Business

In an effort to help veterans maximize their broad skill set off the battlefield, and navigate the tricky field of startups and entrepreneurial opportunities, Congressman Jerry McNerney recently introduced the Strengthening Technical Assistance, Resources, and Training to Unleash the Potential of Veterans (STARTUP Vets) Act of 2016. This legislation would connect veterans aspiring to become business owners with technical and financial resources via incubators and accelerators that commit to creating more veteran-owned and operated businesses.

Nine Valley Youths Attend Summer CAP Encampment

Nine area Civil Air Patrol members – including one Oakdale – recently completed the 2016 California Wing Encampment, held June 24 through July 1 at Camp San Luis Obispo. Cadets that attended were: Elizabeth Benavente, 13, of Modesto, Nicholas Desomma, 13, of Turlock, Gino Estrella, 13, of Modesto, AnneMarie Fiori, 14, of Modesto, Nicholas Hahn, 15, of Hughson, Lucas Hardy, 13, of Oakdale, Zoe Hines, 14, of Modesto, Austin Kuesthardt, 15, of Modesto, and Domenica Spaner, 17, of Tracy. Hosted by the California Wing, more than 200 cadets and staff came from all across California.

Lead singer and guitarist for Live Again, Alex Lucero, was on stage with his bandmates at multiple locations this weekend, kicking off a trio of appearances for the first of the season Concerts in the Park at Oakdale's Dorada Park, hosted by the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce. Saturday Dinner Aids Oakdale K9 Program

The Gene Bianchi Community Center will be the site for a special fundraising dinner dance and auction on Saturday, July 23. Proceeds of the event will benefit the Oakdale K9 Association, which supports the two Oakdale Police Department K9 units, Chevy and Cruze.

City ‘Solar Farm’ To Combat Costs

Lawsuit Amended Against OID

Attorneys for the Oakdale Groundwater Alliance have asked a Stanislaus County Superior Court to dismiss four causes of actions from a lawsuit they originally filed against the Oakdale Irrigation District earlier this year. The causes of action, numbers two through five, centered around Director Gary Osmundson's participation and voting in the district's On-Farm Conservation Program, accusing him of a conflict of interest and other illegalities.
