OID Turns On The Water

Police Seek Scam Victims

An investigation into reports of identity theft and credit card fraud resulted in the serving of search warrants and confiscation of property in Escalon this week, and police are looking for possible victims of the scam. The warrants were served at a business, All City Automotive at 1910 Main St., Escalon, and a residence in the 1800 Block of Baker Avenue in that city.

Recycle Rate Increases

Starting March 1, California consumers who redeem their (CRV) beverage container deposits will receive an increase in the per pound redemption rate. 
"Recycling beverage containers makes more 'cents' than ever before," said Matt Millhiser, rePLANET's Marketing Director. "The State's new redemption rates, combined with our innovations in automated technology, make recycling more financially rewarding and convenient than any time in California history."

Check Before You Burn Wraps Up

The ninth season of a critical air quality program concluded on Wednesday, Feb. 29. This year's 'Check Before You Burn' program – which minimizes dangerous airborne particle pollution by restricting burning - featured an unusually high number of wood-burning curtailment days because of historically poor conditions this winter, said San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District officials.

OID Irrigation Talks Start

A discussion about the start of the 2012 water season held at the Feb. 21 regular meeting of the Oakdale Irrigation District Board of Directors resulted in the board unanimously voting to hold off on starting the first irrigation until at least March 6. Director Steve Webb moved that the district get the OID water system ready to deliver water now and then to decide at the March 6 board meeting when to start the irrigation rotations.

Council To Visit Tourism Board Dispute

The Oakdale City Council is meeting tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 21, instead of Monday due to the Presidents' Day holiday. Among other items on the agenda, there is an item regarding a dispute surrounding the tourism board, which was formerly overseen by the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce.
