California Gold Rush History Comes to Life

Columbia State Historic Park will present "Diggins Tent Town 1852" – its annual living history event this coming May 19 through May 22. Sponsored by Friends of Columbia and Columbia State Historic Park and depicted by over 150 costumed volunteers, visitors can experience the events and environment of an 1850's mining camp that is re-created in detail from the clothing, food and entertainment.

Classic Cars Tour Rolls Into Region

Classics will soon be cruising in to the area, with trips to Oakdale and Knights Ferry, as part of the Western Gaslight one- and two-cylinder Tour. The automobiles and their owners will be arriving next week and they have planned a day in the Main Street Park in neighboring Escalon with a luncheon on Tuesday, May 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

River Clean Up May 7

Volunteers will meet near the river in the Cost Less parking lot. Bring gloves, boots, and energy. So far volunteers have collected over eight tons of debris in the last three months, which would have otherwise been grabbed by the river this past week as the water rose to its highest level in years.
