American Legion Posts To Revitalize In Local Areas

Military veterans in and around Modesto, Stockton and neighboring areas are invited for a special service session from Thursday, Sept. 20 through Saturday, Sept. 22 at the following locations: Modesto American Legion Post 74, 1001 S. Santa Cruz Ave., Modesto and American Legion Post 16, 2020 Plymouth Road, Stockton. For the Modesto location, on Saturday, Sept. 22, the event will be moved to the Modesto Moose Family Center #1608, 821 Fifth St. Modesto.

CHP Conducts Bus Inspection In Yosemite

The California Highway Patrol (CHP), in partnership with the National Park Service, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Public Utilities Commission, Modesto Police Department, and San Francisco Police Department, conducted a surprise bus inspection in Yosemite National Park on Sept. 7-8. The bus inspection was planned in support of the nationwide campaign to improve tour bus safety.

OID Crews Wrapping Riverbed Restoration

Working in conjunction to reestablish salmon spawning and juvenile salmon rearing areas to the Stanislaus River at Honolulu Bar, Oakdale Irrigation District, FishBio, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Anadromous Fish Restoration Program (AFRP) have put in about $520,000 of shared cost into the habitat restoration project. OID and AFRP split the cost 50/50.
